- Equipping Law Enforcement Officers (LEO’s) with the prescription drug Naloxone/Narcan
- Providing training for its use
- Expanding the message of “Four Steps to Prevent Rx Drug Abuse” within the medical community
- Increasing awareness of Georgia 9-1-1 Medical Amnesty Law
- Increasing awareness and supply instructions on how to administer Overdose First Aid
- Donating drop boxes to qualifying higher education institutions, law enforcement agencies and pharmacies (as new regulations are developed)
- Providing media support to promote the “Four Steps to Prevent Rx Drug Abuse” and the Georgia 9-1-1 Medical Amnesty Law
The area of focus includes the following thirteen counties:
Banks, Barrow, Dawson, Forsyth, Habersham, Hall, Jackson, Lumpkin, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union and White.
Georgia 9-1-1 Medical Amnesty Law
- Passed by overwhelming majorities in Georgia House and Senate and signed into law by Gov. Nathan Deal on April 24, 2014
- Protects those seeking medical assistance during a drug overdose from criminal prosecution for drug possession
- Does not include drug trafficking or distribution
