On May 14, the Apple Mountain Golf Course in Clarkesville will host a golf tournament that will serve as a memorial tribute to Jeffrey Gay – the grandson of MAG Foundation ‘Think About It’ campaign community co-Chair Dallas Gay who lost his life to prescription drug abuse in 2012.
The tournament, which is organized by the Gay family’s friends and family, will begin with a shotgun start at 12:00 p.m. The funds raised will be split among ‘Think About It’ and the We Care Foundation, a local Gainesville charity. The $75 entry fee covers greens fees, cart, awards, and dinner from Johnny’s BBQ. Contact Hilda Shockley at 770.536.3922 or Colin Sawyer at colinsawyer111@gmail.com for registration information.
In 2014, the tournament raised more than $21,000 to support the MAG Foundation’s ‘Think About It’ campaign – which is designed to prevent prescription drug abuse in the state.
In addition to the Apple Mountain Golf Course, event sponsors include the Mellow Mushroom restaurant in Gainesville.
